Call for Art Works 2026

Submissions Due: Monday, January 19th, 2026

Calling all Artists & Researchers!

Join us as we celebrate Shaping the EvoLUtion - 60 years of research at Lakehead!
Aligned with this year's Research and Innovation Week theme "Shaping the EvoLUtion", this is an open invitation to submit to our on-site juried exhibit. Non-local artworks will be directed to our juried virtual gallery.
The Galleries heartily invite works that consider change-making projects in any scholarly field. Have you made art that looks at strengthening community engagement, pioneering sustainable solutions, fostering equity and reconciliation, or driving economic or social innovation?
By putting the LU in EvoLUtion, we affirm Lakehead’s central role in fostering the partnerships, discoveries, and innovations needed to address complex challenges and build a better tomorrow. We invite faculty, students, staff, partners, and artists to showcase how their research is actively shaping the evolution of their fields, our regions, and the world.
We will review local submissions that can be hung (on hanging wires). High-quality photography or framed printings can showcase 3D media or poetry submissions. We can also showcase digital submissions through four large exhibition screens (looping video or slides). Please note that the on-site video monitors are visual only (no sound). Artworks are on exhibit for one year and photos and videos of accepted works will also remain on the LAIR website exhibit archive.
