Artist Statement

Soil is a main defence for our planet but misunderstood. Soil sustains food production, filters water, prevents flooding, buffers drought, captures carbon and supports our infrastructure. This piece uses fibre found at thrift stores, gifted and in my yard. It is knit, felted, and sewn.

Christina Mol is a fibre artist with farming, food and environmental science inspiring her views. Starting with more traditional knitting and crochet, Christina Mol tries to explore opportunities and changes in her life with fibre arts incorporating knitting, felting, crochet, natural materials and other techniques. Christina is learning about natural fibres and dyes at the moment.
