Climate Anguish

Picture
40 cm x 50 cm

Artist Statement

The title of the piece is Climate Anguish. On the left side of the piece are flames representing the destruction of climate change. They are engulfing a human face that is stripped down to the bones and blends into the landscape. The pattern of the maxillary artery resembles the intricate networks of roots and branches of plants emphasizing that humans are intertwined and interconnected with nature. The face is gazing towards the hopeful element of evergreen cedar branches representing life, rebirth and resilience.

Mia Donato

Although not an artist by education (I am a University of Toronto graduate from the faculties of Life Sciences and Dentistry) I enjoy making art in various mediums. My favourite so far are acrylics, watercolours, stained glass and dry felting.
