Artist Statement

My paintings are inspired by the Boreal Forest that surrounds us and the beautiful Slate River Valley. We live creating a fine balance between nature and humanity. I wanted to capture the use of our area, the farming, the tree lot and how the land continues to give us pleasure.

Nicole Sutherland is an artist from Thunder Bay, Ontario. Nicole studied at the University of Manitoba receiving her HBFArts. She specializes in painting brightly coloured landscapes in oils, Several galleries in Ontario and the U.S. display her work. Presently, Nicole lectures at Lakehead University, teaching teachers how to teach art!
