The LAIR Galleries will host 2 online exhibitions:
About the Theme
The idea for YOCA was born from the Lakehead University Sustainability Stewardship Council (LUSSC). Their Climate Action Working Group is committed to considering how Lakehead University can be a leader in cultivating and taking climate action. YOCA's themes inspire us to think of climate action as rising up, transitioning, regenerating, and sustaining together to create the conditions for all life, and the land, to flourish. Climate action is building relationships. It’s recognizing the causes and consequences of climate change. It's systemic change. It’s restorative justice and it's right relations.
We specifically invite forms of inquiry used for teaching, learning and research. Educational research artworks are investigations that are sustained inquiries, whether formal (i.e., university research projects) or informal (i.e., personal investigations), that may be funded by research agencies, likely have a cause or social justice intention, or may have other intended dissemination formats (i.e., journal publications or public talks). These works intentionally seek to raise awareness of phenomena in the hopes of positive development.
For this online exhibition, we welcome national and international entries. We invite images, videos, and feature projects. Images: We invite photos of 2-D or 3-D art. Videos: Please send a link to your research slideshow or video (maximum 4 minutes or please discuss with us. If accepted, we will require a file in MP4 format). Feature Project: Please send a link and describe 3 of the works in the proposed project. The submission process requires title, year, media, dimensions, a 50-100 word abstract or artist's statement, a 50 word bio, and a link to further information about your project if available.
