Picturing Climate Change in Thunder Bay:
Urgency, Hope & Action
We invite you to explore our photo exhibit - the culmination of a collaborative project between ten Thunder Bay citizens, Earthcare Thunder Bay, and Lakehead University. We used photovoice (a participatory research method) to record, discuss, and share thoughts on how we experience climate change in Thunder Bay.
With cameras in hand, participants set out to explore two key questions:
“Why is climate change an urgent issue in Thunder Bay?” and
“What would give me hope for a resilient future in the face of climate change?”.
Participants then created narratives to describe their photos and explain the meaning behind them. As a group, we used these photos and narratives to inspire dialogue and identified the key themes of urgency, hope, and action. We then selected our favourite photos to illustrate these themes and created this photo exhibit to share the outcomes of our project with the people of Thunder Bay.
