Artist Statement

As I move along my academic path to become a “real” researcher, I’m finding that artistic and scholarly endeavors share similar qualities when it comes to belonging. They both can be rewarding yet isolating when approached alone, but take an entirely different shape when we find the right people to collaborate and share with. As I observe the fruit of my peers and mentors in academia and begin to take part myself, it reminds me of the relationships, experiences and connections born out of the creative process. When I see these pieces in this collection, they don’t remind me of the music, but of the people who have helped me and worked with me.

When you see the output of your research, what does it remind you of?

Colin Kutchyera

KUTCH (Colin Kutchyera), is an electropop/alternative artist from Thunder Bay. He's played shows from coast to coast of Canada, from tiny venues to big festivals, performing music ranging from punk-rock band, to acapella quartet. Though still actively playing and recording, Colin’s main focus is his family, career, and Ph.D. studies.
