Artist Statement
This is one artwork from a tripartite painting series created during my doctoral comprehensive exams, where I crafted a visual journal to document my experiences and organize my thoughts about my three subject areas: arts-based approaches to research, newcomers’ experiences in Newfoundland and Labrador, and community art therapy. This painting series also documents when I found out that I was pregnant with my first child, which integrated my subjective fears of an unknown future into the series. This artwork was integrated into my arts-based comprehensive exams essay.
